Matt Gandy

Matt Gandy is a senior managing director in the firm’s strategic advisory practice, where he focuses on the insurance sector.

His advisory experience includes insurance brokerage transactions such as the sales of OneDigital, Accession, McGriff, NFP, World and Galway, as well as other deals for Alera and Acrisure; MGA transactions, including the sales of TheGuarantors, Bamboo, Orchid, Align, Constellation, Allstar Financial Group, Wellington and ICAT; specialty insurance assignments such as advising Olympus on its sale to SageSure, Onex on its acquisition of Accredited, Kestrel on its combination with Maiden Holdings, Palomar on its IPO and acquisition of Gray Surety, State National on its IPO and subsequent sale to Markel, Narragansett Bay on its sale to Heritage, and Tokio Marine on its acquisition of HCC; and insurance services engagements, including the sales of Alacrity’s managed repair business, Alacrity, McLarens, Brown & Brown’s claims businesses and SUNZ.

Previously, Mr. Gandy was based in San Francisco, where he established Evercore’s West Coast insurance advisory business. He joined Evercore in 2011 through the firm’s acquisition of Lexicon Partners after earlier roles at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers.

Mr. Gandy earned a B.A. from the College of Arts & Sciences at Cornell University and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
