Matt Gandy is a senior managing director in the firm’s strategic advisory business focused on the insurance sector. He has advised insurance distribution, underwriting, technology and services companies across the U.S., U.K., Canada and Bermuda.
Notable transactions include advising Alacrity Solutions on its sale to BlackRock LTCP; Orchid Underwriters Agency on its sale to Brown & Brown; Align Financial Holdings on its sale to Howden Group; Alera Group on its recapitalization and merger with Propel Insurance Agency; Constellation Affiliated Partners on its sale to Truist Financial; Galway Insurance Holdings on its sale to Harvest Group; Integro on its sale to Odyssey Investment Partners and subsequent sales of its U.S. and Canadian businesses; Palomar Holdings on its IPO and subsequent follow-ons; Acrisure on its management-led buyout and subsequent investment from Blackstone; McLarens on its sale to Lee Equity Partners; and State National Cos. on its IPO and subsequent sale to Markel.
Previously, Mr. Gandy was based in San Francisco, where he established Evercore’s insurance advisory business on the West Coast. He joined Evercore in 2011 through the firm’s acquisition of Lexicon Partners. Earlier in his career, he worked in the financial institutions group at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers.
Mr. Gandy earned a B.A. from the College of Arts & Sciences at Cornell University and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
