John Pelly is a senior advisor in Evercore’s strategic advisory business.

Mr. Pelly joined Evercore in 2011 upon its merger with Lexicon Partners, where he had worked since 2005. Previously, he was chairman and chief executive of Willis Re, starting his career there in 1972 as a broker in the aviation division. After his appointment to executive director, he was seconded to Willis Faber and Johnson & Higgins to help develop a new joint venture reinsurance intermediary.

In 1988, he was appointed director of Willis Faber & Dumas; in 1991 he became managing director of U.K. and North American Reinsurance Group; then in 1994 he was named strategy director of Willis Faber & Dumas.

He was appointed to the board of directors of Willis Corroon Group in 1998.
