Waleed El-Amir
Waleed El-Amir is a senior advisor in Evercore’s strategic advisory business based in Dubai, and is also chairman and co-founder of NPL Markets, a fintech platform providing data, analytics and a marketplace for illiquid and distressed assets.
Mr. El-Amir has nearly 30 years of experience in global international finance, having held senior global leadership positions in North America, Europe and the Middle East across corporate banking, commercial banking, investment banking and treasury.
Previously, Mr. El-Amir was executive vice-president and head of group finance at UniCredit until 2017, where his responsibilities included treasury, capital raising. liquidity, transfer pricing, investor relations, ratings and managing interest rate and FX risk for the bank. Prior to that, he held leadership positions in investment banking and capital markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch during a 16-year tenure and also was a member of the EMEA EXCO.
Mr. El-Amir holds a Masters in Bioprocess Engineering from the University of Surrey and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is fluent in English, Arabic, Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese and has a working knowledge of Greek.
