Stephen Schaible is a senior advisor in the firm’s strategic advisory business.

Prior to joining Evercore in 2007, Mr. Schaible was a managing director and head of global energy investment banking at Citigroup, where previously he was head of global chemicals investment banking. Before joining Citigroup in 2001, he was a managing director at J. P. Morgan & Co., working in New York, Tokyo and London on M&A and industry coverage roles while also serving as the head of chemicals investment banking.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Schaible has advised many clients in the energy, chemicals, industrial and pharmaceutical industries, including DuPont in the spinoff of its performance chemicals business and proxy contest with activist investor Trian Partners; Lubrizol in its sale to Berkshire Hathaway; Swiss Re in the sale of CHF 3 billion of preferred shares to Berkshire Hathaway; LyondellBasell in its successful Chapter 11 reorganization and restructuring; ConocoPhillips in its acquisition of Burlington Resources; Lyondell Chemical in its acquisitions of ARCO Chemical and Millennium Petrochemicals; Lubrizol in its acquisition of Noveon International; Crompton in its acquisition of Great Lakes Chemical; Dow Chemical in the creation of global joint ventures with Kuwait Petroleum; and Hoechst in the divestiture of its specialty chemicals business to Clariant.
