Neil Shah
Neil Shah is a senior managing director and co-heads the firm’s Financial Sponsors Group.
Mr. Shah leads a team of over 15 senior investment bankers who develop and maintain relationships with alternative asset managers on a global basis. They work closely with industry and product partners to deliver creative solutions to many of the world’s leading alternative asset managers.
Mr. Shah has more than 25 years of investment banking experience. He has closed over 50 M&A transactions, 400+ IPOs and 55+ private structured investments. He has also innovated and led complex GP-driven transactions, including the first-ever U.S.-listed alternative asset manager with the IPO of Blackstone, the listing of KKR and the creation of various permanent capital products.
Mr. Shah joined Evercore in 2019 after a long career at Citi, where he founded and headed Citi’s private and alternative capital markets businesses globally. From 2010 to 2013, Mr. Shah was with KKR, co-heading capital markets and running the co-investment business. Prior to that, he was with KPMG’s restructuring and valuations group. He started his career in 1997 with Blakes in Toronto.
Mr. Shah is a graduate of Harvard Law School (LL.M.) and earned both a J.D. (ranking No. 1 in 1997) and a B.B.A. (ranking No. 2 in 1994) from University of Ottawa. He is a chartered financial analyst.
