Mark Friedman is a senior managing director in the firm’s strategic advisory practice focused on the transportation sector with a concentration on the global shipping industry.

Mr. Friedman had advised on numerous large maritime mergers, including the pending sale of ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. to Hapag-Lloyd, and Saltchuk on its purchase of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock. Other advisory assignments include BlackRock on the sale of its 45% interest in GasLog to GIC, representing the special committee of CoolCo on the sale to Eastern Pacific and representing NAVIG8 on its sale to ADNOC L&S. Outside of shipping, Mr. Friedman advised Knight Transportation on its acquisition of Swift Transportation, which created the largest truckload company in the world. He also advised USA Truck on its sale to DB Schenker.

Prior to joining Evercore in 2009, Mr. Friedman was the U.S. head of transportation and global head of shipping at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and prior to that was an investment banker at Goldman,Sachs & Co. He began his career as an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell.

Mr. Friedman holds a B.S. in economics with highest honors from Rutgers University and a J.D. with honors from New York University.
