Mark Connell is a senior managing director in Evercore’s advisory business with more than 20 years of corporate finance experience. He focuses on advising clients in the electricity, gas and renewables sectors.

Mr. Connell has advised on a number of significant transactions, including Ontario Teachers, Borealis and SSE on their acquisition of Scotia Gas Networks; COFRA Holdings on its disposal of interests in REC and in relation to their interests in Q-Cells; and a series of recent transactions in the generation sector for clients, including RWE AG, Welsh Power Group and Eggborough Power.

Mr. Connell was a partner and managing director at Lexicon Partners, the corporate finance advisory business acquired by Evercore in 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Connell was a managing director in the European utilities investment banking team at Citigroup, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and strategic advice for clients in the electricity, gas and water sectors. Previously, from 1993 to 2000, he was a member of Schroders’ energy and utilities team before Schroders merged with Salomon Smith Barney in Europe. Earlier in his career, he worked at Enron on a number of electricity and gas infrastructure projects.

He has a degree in economics from Trinity College, Dublin.
