James Steinau
James Steinau is a managing director in the firm’s strategic advisory practice and focuses on M&A, shareholder activism and raid defense.
Mr. Steinau’s transaction experience at Evercore includes advising Aerojet Rocketdyne on its proxy fight against Steel Partners and sale to L3Harris, PGT Innovations on its sale to Miter Brands, EngageSmart on its sale to Vista, EchoStar on its merger with DISH Network, Arconic on its sale to Apollo, Duck Creek on its sale to Vista, and Ceragon on its hostile takeover defense against Aviat Networks.
Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Steinau was a vice president in J.P. Morgan’s financial institutions group. Notable transactions there included advising TD Bank on the sale of TD Ameritrade to Charles Schwab, HSBC on the sale of its U.S. retail banking business, Webster on its merger of equals with Sterling, and First Midwest on its merger of equals with Old National.
Mr. Steinau earned a B.A. in economics and public policy from Brown University and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
