AJ Berens
A.J. Berens is a managing director in Evercore’s strategic advisory practice and focuses on multiple healthcare services subverticals, including care delivery, health insurance, pharmacy and distribution, and technologies that support these end markets.
Since joining Evercore in 2015, Mr. Berens advises public and private healthcare companies on their long-term strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and capital raising, as well as financial sponsors investing in healthcare services and technologies.
Notable engagements include advising on the sale of athenahealth to a private equity consortium led by Hellman Friedman and Bain Capital; strategic partnership between IVX Health and Great Hill Capital Partners; sale of PWNHealth to Everlywell; sale of Enclara Pharmacia to Humana, which is developing innovative delivery strategies across the care continuum; and strategic partnership between the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and TPG Capital.
Mr. Berens previously worked at Barclays in its healthcare M&A practice.
He holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Maryland and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
