Neil Shah is a Senior Managing Director in the Firm’s Strategic Advisory practice and leads Evercore’s global permanent capital business, including SPACs.
Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Shah founded and concurrently ran Citi’s top-ranked Alternative Capital Markets business globally and Private Capital Markets business. Over the past 25 years, he has advised financial sponsors, family offices, companies and executives, in the areas of alternative capital formation including SPACs as well as private equity co-investments, PIPEs and structured equity investments. He has completed a record number of SPAC deals, including over 35 IPOs, over 30 Mergers, and over 15 PIPE transactions since pioneering the first SPAC by a bulge bracket bank in 2005 and reopening the SPAC market in 2014. Additionally, he recently completed a private preferred and equity co-investment financing for the take-private of Dun & Bradstreet, three consecutive private equity financings for Ally Financial post bankruptcy emergence as well as numerous other structured and non-structured pre-IPO and M&A driven PIPE financings.
He joined Citi in 2004 and has 25 years of investment banking, M&A and capital markets experience. Between 2010 and 2013, Mr. Shah was with KKR, where he co-headed U.S. capital markets and ran its equity capital markets and co-investment business. Prior to Citi, Mr. Shah was with KPMG Corporate Finance in their M&A and valuations group. Mr. Shah started his career in 1995 with the law firm of Blakes in Toronto.
Mr. Shah is a graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Ottawa. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
