Jonathan A. Knee is a senior advisor in the firm’s corporate advisory business, with over 25 years of relevant experience.

Since joining Evercore, Mr. Knee has advised the Scripps family on the sale of SNI Networks to Discovery, the merger of the broadcast operations of The E.W. Scripps Co. and Journal Communications, and the spin/merge of their corresponding newspaper operations; Merkle on its majority recapitalization from Dentsu Aegis Network; Ancestry.com on its strategic investment from Silver Lake/GIC; UBM on its divestiture of PR Newswire to GTCR; Atlantic Media on its sale of The Atlantic to the Emerson Collective; S&P Global on its acquisition of SNL Financial and its sale of McGraw-Hill Construction, McGraw-Hill Education, Businessweek, S&P Security Evaluations and Credit Market Analysis; Dealertrack Technologies on its acquisitions of Dealer.com and incadea and its sale to Cox Enterprises; iParadigms on its sale to Insight Venture Partners and GIC; and IMG on its sale to Silver Lake and William Morris.

Other notable transactions include advising R. L. Polk on its sale to IHS; Reed Elsevier on its sale of Variety to Penske Media; The Bureau of National Affairs on its sale to Bloomberg; LoopNet on its sale to CoStar Group; Schoolnet on its sale to Pearson; RiskMetrics on its to sale to MSCI; NTL on its acquisition of Telewest; VNU on its sale to a private equity consortium; Freedom Communications on its recapitalization; Hearst on its multiple investments in Fitch Ratings; The New York Times on its sale of the Boston Globe to John Henry; and Dow Jones on its purchases of CBS MarketWatch and Factiva. Mr. Knee is also a professor of professional practice in business at Columbia Business School.

Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Knee was a managing director and co-head of the media group at Morgan Stanley. He also was the publishing sector head in the communications, media and entertainment group at Goldman, Sachs & Co.

He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards of directors of Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York, National Women’s Law Center, and New Alternatives for Children.

Mr. Knee has a J.D. from Yale University, an MBA from Stanford University, an M.Sc. from Trinity College Dublin, and a B.A. from Boston University.
