Qazi Fazal

Senior Managing Director

Qazi Fazal is a Senior Managing Director at Evercore. He is a member of both the Telecom Group and the Restructuring and Debt Advisory Group.

Mr. Fazal has been involved in numerous financing and capital structure restructuring advisory assignments in a variety of industries such as financial services (Athilon, CIT, PennCorp), retail (Blockbuster Music, Boston Chicken, Giant Food), consumer products (Imperial Sugar Company), healthcare (HIP of NJ/NY), media (Charter, Sirius/XM, Readers Digest, Viacom), power (Niagara Mohawk) and industrial (Acme Metals, Air & Water Technologies, Alpha Tube, Novelis). The $60 billion restructuring of CIT during 2009/2010 was recognized as “Restructuring Deal of the Year” by both Investment Dealers Digest and International Financing Review.

Mr. Fazal’s mergers, acquisitions and strategic advisory assignments in the telecom industry have included working with Birch Telecom, Cavalier, Conversent, Equinix, Focal, ICG, ITC^DeltaCom, Level (3), McLeod, Nextel, Ntelos, Pac-West, SpectraSite, RSL, Telx, and Viatel.

Mr. Fazal has been recognized by Investment Dealers Digest as a “Top 40 Dealmaker Under 40” and by Crain’s New York Business as a “Top 40 New York Rising Star Under 40.” Prior to Evercore, he was a Managing Director at Miller Buckfire & Co. and a member of its predecessor entity, Wasserstein Perella (DrKW), and, before that Bankers Trust (DB).

Mr. Fazal has an A.B. (magna cum laude) from Harvard University.
