Andrew Donovan

Managing Director

Andrew Donovan is a Managing Director of the Utilities & Infrastructure corporate advisory team, based in London.

He is responsible for Evercore’s activities in the renewable energy sector in Europe. His transaction experience in this sector includes having advised independent developers Broadview Energy and North British Windpower on selling a 25MW onshore wind portfolio and the Fallago Rig wind project respectively; RWE on the acquisition of a stake in the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm; and private equity investors Englefield Capital and Arcapita on the separate sales of their interests in the Zephyr wind portfolio. In addition to other on-going mandates in the wind sector, he is also currently working on M&A and/or capital-raising transactions in the energy-from-waste, biomass generation and solar PV sub-sectors.

Outside of the renewable energy space, Andrew Donovan has wide experience across the thermal generation sector, including advising Welsh Power Group on the project financing and subsequent sale of Severn Power, Barking Power on restructuring and InterGen on refinancing. He also advised the Scotia Gas Networks consortium on acquiring two UK gas distribution networks.

Andrew Donovan was a Partner and Managing Director at Lexicon Partners, the corporate finance advisory business which was acquired by Evercore in 2011. Prior to joining Lexicon Partners in 2004, Andrew Donovan was a Director of the European Utilities investment banking team at Citigroup, where he focused on mergers & acquisitions and strategic advice for clients in the electricity and gas sectors. Notable transactions at Citigroup included advising Centrica on the acquisition of the Rough gas storage facility, advising Sorgenia on the acquisition of the Interpower generation portfolio in Italy and advising WPD on the acquisition and subsequent restructuring of Hyder. Andrew Donovan was previously a member of Schroders' Energy & Utilities team from 1996 until 2000, where he advised on the separate sales of the Drax, Killingholme and Eggborough power stations, inter alia. Before joining Schroders, he worked for Arthur Andersen in its Audit and Business Assurance practice in Dublin from 1992 to 1996.

He has a first class degree in Commerce and a Diploma in Professional Accounting from University College Dublin, and is a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland.
