James Matthews
Senior Advisor
James R. Matthews is a Senior Advisor of the firm's private equity business.
Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Matthews was a General Partner of Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, where he focused on investments in the information and business services sectors. Previously, Mr. Matthews was a General Partner of J. H. Whitney & Co., one of the first private equity firms, and started his career in mergers & acquisitions at Salomon Brothers Inc.
Mr. Matthews serves on the board of directors of Bollinger, Inc. and TestEquity, LLC. In addition, Mr. Matthews serves on the Board of Trustees of Greenwich Academy. Previously, Mr. Matthews served on the board of directors of Sedgwick CMS Holdings, Specialty Products & Insulation Co., Centennial Communications, Ruesch International and Headstrong.
Mr. Matthews received a B.S. degree from Boston College and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
